2008 MDA Scholarship winners announced

2008 MDA Scholarship winners Sally Anderson and Iron Forge Starman

In 2008, 8 riders competing on Morgans were awarded training scholarships through the Morgan Dressage Association Scholarship program. The program is funded from the proceeds of MDA’s Annual Benefit Stallion Service Sale and the generosity of the stallion owners who donate their stallion’s services. This year, the riders, competing at Training Level through Grand Prix, were each awarded $500 scholarships. This annual program provides riders who are training and competing Morgans, scholarships that can be used for clinics, regular lessons and/or training resource books or videos. MDA and its members lend a helping hand to Dream Morgans

Upon hearing about Terry Johnson’s situation, the MDA Board of Directors agreed MDA needed to step forward to help. Twice Terry has very generously donated the services of Scandias Carribean Blue to the MDA Stallion Service Sale and we wanted MDA to be there to support her like she has so kindly supported us. (Read more about Dream Morgans.) We wanted to include our membership in the fundraising effort, so a challenge was made. MDA agreed to match total funds donated by our members up to a total of $500.

The response we received was outstanding. In total, our members donated $1285, adding that to MDA’s $500 donation, we were able to send Terry $1,785 to help her rebuild Dream Morgans. The success of our fundraiser could not have been possible without the generous donations from our members. Thank You!

2007 Awards of Excellence announced

Riders and their Morgans from around the United States are eligible for awards in three categories at various levels in the 2007 Morgan Dressage Association Awards of Excellence program. Awards are given for each level; for musical freestyle and in dressage sport horse breeding. Read about the 2007 winners.

2008 MDA membership directory available

For 2008 the Morgan Dressage Association introduced a new membership advertising opportunity - allowing professionals, breeders and other service providers the chance to advertise their service, farm or stallion - for a nominal fee - with an expanded listing in the recently published 2008 MDA membership directory and in a new service directory section of the MDA web site.
